Alex cary
I am a self taught artist currently making my focus fiber and textile installations and art pieces.
As a former drapery specialist, sub-contracting to major interior design houses, I am no stranger to large scale projects and it feels appropriate to circle back to textiles and fibers.
My love of construction insists that I make all of my frames myself. Each of my pieces are ready to hang and are housed in a custom made frame or displayed on a section of walnut, that I have meticulously chosen at the lumber yard and hand sanded and finished myself.
I work with natural fibers such as organic and recycled cotton cording, ropes and threads, jute, pure wool, merino wool, alpaca, mohair and bamboo along with misplaced, discontinued, naturally discarded and found organic materials and sheds left behind by animals who have outgrown them.
